APOTHEONICS

@political is the outgrowth of a pie-in-the-sky idea conceived of by its chief editor, Chad Perrin.  It was dragged from the cellar of his mind and deposited into the light of the World Wide Web in all its misshapen glory for public ridicule.  It's a haven for free thought, free speech, and unpopular opinions.  While Chad certainly has far more than his fair share of opinions, he won't begrudge others their own, and will even give them a home at @political, provided they are well-written and supported by reason.

@political is hosted at Chad's apotheon.com domain, one of a triumvirate of domains he currently holds in his name for a variety of disparate purposes.  The common thread between these purposes is bound up in the name apotheon, however — a name by which he is known in a number of venues online.  In fact, more people know him by that name than any other.

apotheon (n): 1. one who is exalted or elevated to a state of godhood. 2. an individual element of a greater, transcendent whole.

That about says it.  It's about becoming something better than you are, and doing so without leaving the rest of the world behind.  It's about individuality and community all at once, personal responsibility, strength, and improvement.  At least, that's what Chad would say.

APOTHEON.COM : @political : This is where you are now.

APOTHEON.NET : broken home : Among other things, this site hosts the discussion fora (a:f) to which you are directed when you click the "comments" link at the end of an article in @political.  It's also home to gaming resources for fans of old-fashioned pencil and paper RPGs, and there are member services in the works for the future.

APOTHEON.ORG : apocryphage : Whatever veneer of political sensitivity and careful professionalism he carries at @political is missing in Chad's personal site at apotheon.org.  Go there for his hobbies, personal obsessions, opinions and thoughts too raw or uninteresting for publication at @political, and random collections of links and data.
